A protestor was arrested on suspicion of assault after launching into a 20-minute tirade of abuse at Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg.
But the woman was released after the Tory former Cabinet Minister told police: 'Don't do anything on my account.'
Sir Jacob told The Mail on Sunday he thought police and the courts had enough on their plates 'without their time being taken up with a slightly deranged woman'.
But amid mounting concerns around MPs' safety, one fellow politician last night said he should have pressed charges to 'make an example of the woman'.
It comes after Sir Jacob last month had to be escorted off the Cardiff University campus by security officers after being mobbed by pro-Palestine activists, including some who shouted 'Tory c***'.

The woman 'ranted on and on and on' at him for about 20 minutes, he said, calling him a 'terrible person' and protesting at the Government's plan to send illegal migrants to Rwanda (stock image)
Jacob Rees Mogg was escorted out of the university by campus security and was heckled by a group of students and activists in April
But it has now emerged that he was last weekend accosted again at a children's fair near his North-East Somerset constituency.

He said a woman in her forties 'came up to me at Hanham Common when I was with three of my children'.
The woman 'ranted on and on and on' at him for about 20 minutes, he said, calling him a 'terrible person' and protesting at the Government's plan to send illegal migrants to Rwanda.
But he said he and his children 'carried on regardless'. He added that police community support officers 'tried to calm her down.' Sir Jacob said the woman 'did sort of poke me but nothing of any seriousness'.
When Avon and Somerset police contacted him to say she had been arrested, he told them not to pursue it.
The force said: 'A woman in her forties was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released without charge in accordance with the wishes of the victim.'
